Texas Tech University - Rawls Golf Course Club House and Team Facility
Project Description:
Completed in 2012, JDMA was commissioned as associate architect to Robert McKinney the design architect of the Clubhouse and Team Facility. The Clubhouse is a central gathering point for members and guests with panoramic views of holes No. 1, No. 9, No. 10 and the entire course in the distance. A large veranda provides an outdoor gathering area with fire pit for dining and relaxing after a long round, with sweeping views of the golf course. Features of the Club House include locker rooms, cart storage, pro shop, and Jerry’s Grille with a bar and dinning area expressed with exposed heavy timber trusses and expansive windows providing views of the golf course. The Team Facility with it’s courtyard and garden setting provide an impressive entry sequence into the building. Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a high volume reception area and views to the putting area with history of the university’s golf programs displayed proudly. The Team Facility provides for reception area, conference room, locker rooms, coaches offices, along with support and service spaces. The Clubhouse and Team Facility both reflect the architectural vocabulary of Texas Tech University nearby and will serve as the cornerstone for the university’s golf program.
